The Return of the Homologation Special: Introducing the New Ducati Panigale V2 SP

The iconic "SP" (Sport Production) badge holds a legendary place in Ducati’s racing heritage. Tracing its roots back to machines like the legendary 851 SP, the SP designation represents a pure production motorcycle engineered specifically to homologate technical solutions for world championship racing. 

For the model year 2027, Ducati Corse and Ducati have joined forces once again to create a street-legal weapon designed to bring the Panigale V2 directly to the grid of the FIM Supersport World Championship: the all-new Panigale V2 SP.  

Born for the Track: Exclusive SP Performance Features

While the Panigale V2 and V2 S are renowned for balancing road usable performance with circuit agility, the V2 SP introduces specialist chassis, engine, and dynamic upgrades dedicated to unlocking maximum track potential.   

1. STM-EVO SBK Dry Clutch

In true Ducati Corse fashion, the Panigale V2 SP is equipped with an STM-EVO SBK dry clutch as standard—a feature not available on regular production V2 models. The dry clutch provides superior anti-hop performance during heavy downshifts, smoother fluidity when off-throttle, and customizable mechanical engine braking. It also allows for the use of Ducati Corse Performance Oil and comes supplied with an open carbon fibre clutch cover as an additional accessory.   

2. Forged Wheels & Enhanced Agility

Unsprung weight is the enemy of cornering agility. The V2 SP is fitted with lightweight 5-tangential-spoke forged aluminium wheels finished in striking white. Saving 1.56 kg over standard cast wheels, these forged rims reduce inertia by 27% at the front and 21% at the rear, delivering blistering turn-in speeds and laser-sharp direction changes.  

3. Extended Swingarm & Öhlins Suspension

To enhance stability under hard acceleration and curb wheelie tendencies on circuit exits, Ducati Corse extended the swingarm by +30 mm (extending the overall wheelbase to 1,481 mm). Handling is managed by top-tier, fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 43 mm front forks with TiN treatment and a side-mounted Öhlins piggyback rear shock. 

4. "Winter Test" Livery & Track Aerodynamics

Visually, the V2 SP commands attention in a stealthy Dark Stealth matt black "Winter Test" livery paired with white wheels and crisp white graphics. A 40 mm higher thermoformed racing screen comes standard to provide optimum wind protection along high-speed straights. For track days, quick-removal kits for the mirrors and licence plate holder are available as official accessories.
